I was really looking forward to this Lafayette Park engagement session with Rachel and Ben. For two reasons: First of all, Rachel and Ben booked me for their wedding over Google Hangouts, so this would be the first time we actually met in person. Secondly, since Lafayette Park is a nice little park and I’d shot there before, I would need to come up with something different this time. As a wedding photographer, I’m always up for challenges like this!
A little side story: For engagement sessions, I usually do them at locations that have significance to the couple, like where they first met, where they got engaged, or where they like to hang out. But, because of special circumstances (and I’ll spare you all the details), none of these options would work for Rachel and Ben. We went back and forth through email while Rachel was in South Africa and Ben in California. And we finally decided on Tower Grove Park. But then we soon realized that Lafayette Park was what Rachel had in mind. LOL.
Ben flew all the way from Ridgecrest, CA for the their Lafayette Park engagement session. And I’m glad we scheduled it right before the Strange Folk Festival, which took place the next day on the northeast corner of the park. Ben had never been to the park before, so it was fun to show him around. Rachel, on the other hand, did her senior pictures here.
And these two were so lovely together!!! Rachel warned me in the engagement session questionnaire that she “gets really uncomfortable about PDA.” But who’d have known? 🙂
Here are highlights from the session:
