Wedding Photo Location Scouting
Farm Trip Turned into a Wedding Photography Location Scouting Adventure
In the spirit of Halloween, a few friends and I decided to go out and have some fun. After enjoying Korean BBQ at Asian Kitchen, we headed over to Eckert’s Farm in Milstadt. (This was our original plan at least.)
My favorite part was probably the “Go Cardinals” corn maze. Actually, no: my favorite park was trying to get through the corn maze using the wrong map (pictured below).
What you see is a Google satellite view of the maze from God knows when. Which is why we pretty much gave up and walked back the way we came. (Shame on us, I know. Sometimes the wisest thing to do is give up and I believe this was one of those times.)
Anyway, after we agreed we had had enough fun at the farm, some of us drove straight back. Andrew and I, on the other hand, decided to go scouting locations and looking for wedding photo ideas since Erica and Mark’s wedding is coming up soon in Nov., the reception venue was only ten minutes away, AND the day was still young. So National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows was where we headed.

I was so glad that I took this little detour. And you’ll agree when you see the photos below:
All these photos were taken with an iPhone, by the way. (See, one more reason to be convinced that cameras don’t take good pictures. People do.)
I just hope that we’ll see at least some of these gorgeous fall colors in a month. And I’m definitely praying for beautiful light like this!
Frank Holten State Park
For whatever reason, I just LOVE everything about water; the ocean, rivers, lakes, even a tiny little pond will get me excited like a little child. So I just thought it would be absolutely wonderful if there was a lake nearby.
I pulled out Google Maps and THERE IT WAS: a lake in Frank Holten State Park, a few minutes away!!!
So we hopped back into the car before the sun completely went down.
And I wasn’t disappointed:
Breathtaking, isn’t it?
We drove around the lake and even discovered a cute little light tower by a golf club!!!
And I noticed that we could even get a view of the Gateway Arch and downtown St. Louis from the lake! How sweet is that! (Although sadly we couldn’t stop for pictures.)
I’m so excited about this wedding photography location scouting adventure and all the beautiful spots that we have found. I can’t wait to tell our couple about it!!!
