If I told you that I would try to do a photo shoot on the campus of Washington University in St. Louis, two days before the second 2016 presidential debate, you’d probably think I’m out of my mind. I am (maybe just a little bit), so I did! And it was not just any photo shoot: it was a bridal session!
Yueyao (Sophia) and Qiaofeng both graduated from WashU. Even though they have been legally married, they are going back to China late October for two wedding celebrations, one at Sophia’s hometown and the other at Qiaofeng’s hometown. So they wanted to do a engagement/bridal shoot on WashU campus and in Forest Park.
Washington University in St. Louis Bridal Session
We started in front of Brookings Hall, and then slowly made our way across Brookings Quadrangle (where CNN staff were busy getting ready for their presidential debate live broadcast on Sunday), past Olin Library, all the way to Graham Chapel (where I’ll be photographing Rachel and Ben‘s wedding in January!).
Everything about Sophia, with her hair and makeup done by Breeze Blow Dry Bar, was stunning, from head to toe. Not to mention how gorgeous her wedding gown is!
Forest Park Engagement Shoot
After we were done shooting at WashU, Sophia changed into a different dress. And, of course, for a photo shoot that was partially meant to showcase St. Louis to their family and friends, how could we skip the best city park in the United States, Forest Park?!! So we stopped at the Grand Basin and Picnic Island. Even though we were greeted with blazing sun, a 5-in-1 42-inch reflector could go a long way. These photos with the St. Louis Art Museum as the backdrop turned out great.
I wish we have had more time to explore the beautiful WashU campus and Forest Park, but I’m super happy with what we got.
